One day, while working with a remarkable young boy who was grappling with ADHD, trauma, and ASD, I witnessed a breakthrough that would shape the future of pediatric therapy tools. The boy was having a particularly challenging day and refused to wear the standard weighted vest. It was clear that we needed a fresh approach to engage him and make the therapy session as effective as possible.
The Epiphany
In that pivotal moment, an idea sparked. What if we could infuse excitement into these tools, transforming them from mundane necessities into cherished assets for the children? It was then that the concept of adding a familiar superhero logo on the front and a cape on the back of the vest emerged. The choice was a no-brainer; the boy’s eyes lit up with enthusiasm, and he eagerly donned the redesigned vest. Almost instantly, he became a different child – empowered, engaged, and ready to tackle the challenges ahead.
